Dr. Chris was born in Charleston, WV and ultimately played goalie for his high school soccer team and helped George Washington High School win its first State Championship in 1982. He attended undergrduate college at West Virginia University and subsequently moved to Memphis, TN where he attended Southern College of Optometry, graduating in 1990 as one of the youngest members of his class. He returned to Huntington upon graduation to join his brother, Dr. William Ratcliff, in practice at Tri-State Eye Care Center and has enjoyed calling Huntington his hometown ever since. In addition to primary care Optometry, he specializes in Low Vision care which relates to helping those with visual disabilities or ocular health abnormalities who are incapable of seeing better than 20/100 when best corrected. He has been a member of the Marshall Sports Medicine team, providing eye care to Marshall's athletes, coaches, and staff, for over 25 years and was inducted into the MU Sports Medicine Hall of Fame alongside his brother in 2010. He is married to Renee Casto, originally from the Ripley area, and has two daughters, Chandler and Ava and one son, Isaac. Dr. Chris is currently a Board Member of the West Virginia Association of Optometric Physicians.
