        The Parks and Recreation Department is administered by the government of the City of Wheat Ridge in Colorado. The department maintains more than 130 acres of developed parkland and over 200 acres of open space. Its Parks, Forestry and Open Space (PFOS) division works to provide a safe environment for users of city-owned swimming pools, tennis courts, trails and gardens. The Parks and Recreation Department operates a senior community center, as well as organizes youth camps, clinics and special events. The department administers SilverSneakers, which is one of the leading fitness programs for senior citizens in the United States. It also conducts classes in yoga, Pilates and aerobics.

        Great place to work out

        I have been going to the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center for some time and I really enjoy it. I love how there is so much to do there. I have gone there to work out and do yoga and I have a lot of fun doing that. Their staff is friendly and helpful and it actually is great if you have a punch card to have 20 free visits. Their membership is expensive, but worth it if you can afford it. For those that have children, they have a day care room that some staff members can watch your child while you go and work out, swim, jog, etc. The center itself is very clean and professional. I recommend them to anyone looking to go and get in shape.
